I received the final adoption papers in the mail on the domestic re-adoption and have filed for his name change on the SS card and health benefits. So, the only thing left is get the birth certifcate which has been applied for and then apply for a US passport. Here's the deal... I have had to travel a bit lately. The first quarter is always packed with meetings and there is some expansion going on in my district where I will be covering not two states, but six. Busy! The travel is unsettling to Akins, We had gone for months with no pants wetting, but one thing that started happening when I had to start travelling is him peeing his pants. This will start on the days I begin talking about going, until I return. The trips are usually two or three days.
So, when the papers came, I had an idea. I asked him if me going on the airplane scares him and he said "yes". I pulled out the original adoption decree with the embossed notary seal on it and said "you see this document, feel this, (he swiped his hand across the seal and smiled at the texture). That seal right there says that I will be your mommy forever and ever. No one can take that away from you or me. You, me, Lorea, we are a team. Even when I go on the airplane I am your mommy and I will always come back because this paper says I have to. He seemed very pleased.
That day he did not wet his pants. I was pleased, but I knew it was premature because I also did not travel. The next day I asked if he would like to go on the airplane again and we could go and see the big water (ocean). He said yes. Lorea's family have not yet met him, so we are planning a trip to CA for a few days. Well, apparently even talking about him going on a plane is scary because this day he did wet his pants. Okay, showing him the papers with the embossed seal seemed ike a great idea. We'll keep trying alternative ideas. I just hope he is not wetting his pants when he is a man!

Easter Extravaganza
For Akins first Easter we pretty much packed the weekend full. Between hospital visits and the ultimate hospital break out we managed to squeeze in an Easter Egg hunt at the park on Saturday. Coloring Easter eggs Saturday night, a basket hunt Sunday morning and finally the egg hunt in our own yard on Sunday afternoon. Akins found all the eggs except the two Dolly managed to find first and eat (the Dolly part of the video is very large so we will see if I can get it on here)!

Planning session on how to get the most amount of eggs

The plan appears to be working - go Akins!

Pay dirt!

Oh yeah this is fun

Any eggs disguised as pool balls? I see you!

I found it!

After yesterday I know two buckets is way better than one

This egg wasn't hiding very well.

Grandma gets a little get well sugar
NOW ON WITH THE VIDEOS!

The Deer, the Rabbit, the Bird and the Sneake (snake)
Grandma got out of the hospital today and after we got her home and settled we went back to our house to look for Easter eggs, ride skateboards and have Easter dinner. After all of this was accomplished we headed back to Grandma's to take her Easter dinner. We put Grandma in bed and off we went back to the house. On the way I see Akins staring out the window into the field and trees. Here's how it goes...
Mommy: "What are you looking at"?
Akins: "Nothing"
Lorea: "I see a deer, oh and a rabbit, and a bird and a snake"
Akins: "Nope - tree, tree, tree, tree, tree. There's no sneake"!
I hope tomorrow to post a ton of pictures and videos from the past few days filled with Easter fun! Stayed tuned.

The Big Moon and Growing Up
On the way to work Friday the moon was just huge and getting ready to set, so it was very close to the ground and directly in front of us. Maybe the biggest I have ever seen in my lifetime and an incredible yellow/orange. Here is the conversation - it was Lorea, Akins and me in the car not sure who said the prompts using Mommy for all of them.
Mommy: "Akins you see the moon it's huge"!
Akins: "I see it".
Mommy: "It's sitting on the ground".
Akins: "Why he sitting on the ground"?
Mommy: "Maybe he's tired from being up all night". Oh, here it comes it's standing back up".
Akins: "It no have legs".
Mommy: "No"?
Akins: "I don't see them".
Mommy: "See his face? They call him the man in the moon".
Akins: "Oh, yeah I see it".
Mommy: "Why it's so big"?
Akins: "Why"? Because, he has a baby in his gutty".
Growing up -
Mommy: "What do you want to be when you grow up"?
Akins: "A daddy".
Mommy: "Okay, after you go to college and get a good job that pays lots of money you can be a daddy. What do you want to do for work".
Akins: "I will have want (one) bo'(boy) and want gur' (girl)and I will carry (take) them to school when I go to work and I will carry them to the house". (This is a big deal directed at making a point with me because he wants me to both take him and pick him up from school everyday. Currently, I drop him and Lorea picks him up).
Mommy: "Oh, one boy and one girl"?
Akins: "Yep".
Mommy: "Do you want the boy or the girl first"
Akins: "First I will have a boy, then I will have a girl"
Mommy: "What will you name them".
Akins" Stammer, stutter, thinking - "The boy I will call Super and the girl I will call Tam".
Still never got the work thing out of him!

Grandma's knee surgery
Today Grandma is in surgery - so I am posting while waiting for the procedure to conclude. Yesterday, Akins said "what are they going to do"? I said "well, they are going to cut her knee open take out the old knee chunk it in the trash (his term) and then put a new one in and sew it back up". He says "I want to see it". "Uh - I don't think so".
Okay, another funny story.
I was trying to explain what Easter is really about - not the whole Easter bunny thing with candy and all but Christ rising from the dead and all that stuff. So, I tell him many people believe that Jesus was the son of God. He says "Where is he? I want to see him"? Yeah bud so do a whole bunch of other people!
So then I try to explain Heaven and that this is the place people who believe in Jesus go when they die and that it is good there, everyone is always happy and the weather is good and that it is beautiful. "Mommy, I want to die". Okay, enough of those conversations for a couple of years!

Happy Birthday Grandma
Today is Grandma's birthday. Unfortunately, she is a bit under the weather and so she missed a special swimming day - canoe safety. Akins loved every second of it - he was first to get in the boat and very helpful in the tipping of the boat, rocking hard from side to side, once again displaying no fear. He also loved the life jackets and did not want to take it off. Here is some stuff just for Grandma - oh and Grandma, Akins can't wait to go out for Lobster Fest, hope you feel better soon!

Final Adoption Gifts from Afar
Aunt Tammy, Uncle Jim and Claudia sent a care package to congratulate Akins on the finalization of the adoption. He always loves getting stuff in the mail and has been quite spoiled by many of you avid bloggers. (Thank you so much!) Here is the unveiling of the new toys.
