Akins has already made a hit with some of the other families at swimming lessons. They already know he has no fear and wait to see what he will do when asked to jump from the diving board or slide. This is him diving head first off the diving board and then straight into his first date on Valentine's Day with Grandma...
For Valentine's Day I had told Akins that he should invite Grandma to be his date (her idea) so a few days before he says "will you be my Valentine Grandma"? She's thrilled of course and so they laid plans to go out on a little date thus allowing me and Lorea some adult one on one - the first in six months I might add. I then told Akins that when Lorea picked him up after school she was going to take him to get Grandma some flowers and that Grandma really likes pink so if they had pink ones that would make her really happy. Lorea comes and off they go to the store and they are looking and they did not have exactly a pink bouquet at least not ALL pink and he was having none of it. Everything is very literally with him. I said pink and so no combination of anything other would do. Alas, as Lorea was getting nervous there were some more flowers in another part of the store and so pink it was - he jumped up and down yelling "pink, pink, pink"! We set everything up pretty so when Grandma picked him up and they came into the house he could present her with her flowers, a card, and a bag he had made her. He was very excited. They went to dinner and were bathed and snuggled on the couch when we got home from our date. Akins scored some gifts from Grandma too - now the video.

Missing in Action...
Okay, I know I have been slackin' but here's what's going on. I have been sick on and off since the last week of January and being a Mom is not necessarily condusive with sickness. Akins is not interested in being idle just because it is really what Mommy needs. Here are some funny points from the past couple of weeks and then I will have some more videos to share as well.
Akins always wants to go very fast in the car. Since I can flash foward in my head to 16 or 17 and driving I tell him "the Important Man" will give me a ticket if I go too fast. Then occasionally we will see someone pulled over and I say "see". So, last week as we got closer to our house Lorea was driving and he says "go fast" and so she did a little, not really speeding but punched it enough to satisfy his Evil Kinevil needs. He laughs thinks it's great. The next morning early like 6:30 am we are laying in bed and I can hear sirens off in the distance and he says "Mommy, the Important Man". I say "Yeah, I hear it too". He says "The Important Man coming to get Lorea". Okay, at first I don't get it and I say "No, why"? He says "Because she was going fast"....
Another funny thing he likes - I know when he is being naughty instinctively. Can't explain but you just do. So, I'll say "were you doing"????? whatever it is, he says "no - you see me do it". Obviously, he thinks that if he is not seen doing it then he has not really done it.
Lastly, we are making some VERY big progress on the bedtime issue. Of late we have gotten to reading a story, laying for a few minutes together "special time" tucking in and off I go. Tantrums are done (I think) and he is now sleeping mostly through the night. Providing he has Zachy the "small" dog. Now, I am not sure what will happen in the future as Zachy is 14 years old and showing some signs of his age now.
For those who check in daily - thank you so much and... sorry for the long lapse in posts. I have some videos to post when I am a little bit more up to it!

More videos - Yes I have gone wild!
Okay, these all are within the last 24 hours.
Akins found these under his bed. I won't explain them so don't bother asking just enjoy the video. Sue this is for you and Scott just in case you were at all worried about Eman and his wild cross dressing moments.
This was him back as swimming - post "gutty button" surgery # 2. He loves it! The instructor said if we can get his "pull" or the ability to pull himself with cupped palms forward through the water he is ready to move to the next level. Not bad after only two lessons.
I've realized that Akins does not talk on these videos very much so I was trying to capture his accent before it fades completely away. This includes some new baby fish and well some more of Akins dance moves including a display of his badonkey donk!

A bunch of videos
Okay, I know I should have done this sooner as Mom gave me this really cool viedo cam for Christmas that saves videos as MOV files making it really easy to put on youtube and then load here. So, get some popcorn and sit back and enjoy!
Christmas Morning Akins checking out all the stuff.
Christmas Day Riding his Jeep in the Back Yard.
For some of you watching Akins (Junior) dance is a favorite video moment. So here he is getting ready for when he will be old enough to try out for Amerian Idol.
Finally, the "gutty button" it still has tape residue on it and well he still has the big belly but one day I think it will be beautiful!

Big Sigh!
Dr. Mary gives all clear. Apparently, I misintrepreted the soft and hard belly button thing, but in any event she was thrilled with his belly button today. Better than last time and seemed very optimistic that it was doing well. There is no signs of fluid and it is smaller with less excess skin then last time. So... I hope that it's a wrap on the Gutty Button Take Two. Pictures will come after we all of the adhesive off so you can actually see it.

Back to Dr. Mary - deep breath
Tomorrow is Akins follow up visit to see how the "gutty button" is doing two weeks after the surgery. I must admit I am concerend. We have had a hard time keeping him still and the daycare has really struggled despite valiant efforts. He feels good so he wants to be a three year old and there is a ton of energy that he does not understand should not be expended the way he normally would. The area feels very hard when he is laying down in a relaxed position and you press on it, this should be soft and kind os squishy feeling. I am hoping it is just scar tissue but...I'm worried. I have decided though if it is not right, unless it is truly life threatening we will wait and do this WAY down the road when he can understand the concept of a doctor telling him no vigorous activity. I hope I am worried for no reason. We'll know in the morning. He is expecting a thumbs up on swimming so I REALLY hope we are not disappointed because he is going to be very unhappy if swimming remains on hold.
