Day Two - 2008 MUAA Reunion

Day # 2 seemed to go by very quickly. We got some relief in the tent from the 105 degree heat and enjoyed a lot of conversation. The kids swam, had water wars and continued right where they left off day #1. The only difference, about noon the Simons family showed up to complete the attendees. Hey what's 9 more people anyway!

Reunion Countdown!

I am out of work for the rest of the week and it is crunch time! There are 19 children and a total of 30 people who will be at our home Friday - Sunday to reunite our kids. Of the 19 children 10 of them are kids Akins lived with while in the AFAA house in Africa. This should be a wonderful adventure! Lots to do! Whoooo Hooooo!!!! Sit tight there will be lots of photos to share I am sure!

A scary day in a Mom's life

This video is from a couple of months ago. It was the day we gave Akins his quad. Before the day was over he had ran it straight into the side of the barn causing some damage to the quad and a little to his ego! He was fine but we had to do some repairs before there was even an hour of ride time on it - first from riding it with the governor so low that it is fouling plugs and second from the crash. Now it's back in the shop again. That's what I get for buying a cheap brand! Oh well first "real" motorcycle what did I expect.

This video is pretty cute. Watch the whole thing I cracked up when Akins nearly jumped out of his skin because the frog moved. It is a big deal trying to figure out what to do with him - I'm not sure he ever really did figure it out.

The Protector

Akins displays the trait of hyper-vigilance which means that he is holding vigil at all times about all things. In some cases it comes off pretty cute. Lorea was with him at Target - giving Mommy a moment of rest so it was just the two of them. They were in the shoe aisle and Akins was in the cart Lorea had walked about 1/2 way down the aisle away and was approached by a sales person. After answering questions about needing any help Lorea walked back to the cart and Akins begins to scold her for talking to a strange man (it was actually a woman) and that it is not safe. Part of this is good because he is getting the concept of stranger danger but unfortunately he does not apply these rules to himself yet will quickly apply them to everyone else. Even still it is pretty cute that he was being that protective.
