Meet Mr. Bones!

Halloween was a really fun night. Akins had picked out a skeleton costume a while back. He was really excited to finally be able to put it on and finally be able to PUT IT ON if you know what I mean. So first we went door to door starting at Grandma's house. There was one house that was scary and he was not real sure about that one. Then we went to the Senior Center for "trunk or treat" and then to the church for games and fun. We dressed up too. Lorea was Countess Dracula and Akins told her he did not like it. I was Dr. Pepper.

Pumpkin Carving and Whistling a Tune!

Akins learned that pumpkin carving is a gooey experience, but he was very proud of our finished product especially when we put the "fire" in it!

The whistle that Uncle Del and Aunt Sondie sent that makes the fish dance.

He is saying "Thank you Uncle Del and Aunt Sondie"!

A couple of funny things

# 1 - Akins is proud of his pee pee healing so nicely. He returned to daycare yesterday and told me that he wanted to show his pee pee to everyone. Obviously, this prompted a conversation about who you can and can not show your pee pee to and why. He was clearly disappointed - but did show Grandma.

# 2 - I went to pick Akins up at school and I see him and another little boy playing together on the floor. I hear the other boy say "see, show me your hand". I walk up and Akins looks up and gets excited to see me, then the other little boy turns to me and says " I want to know why he is brown"! I explained that it is because he is African and the boy leans over to yet another boy and whispers "he's African". Priceless.

# 3 - Akins got a get well gift in the mail from Uncle Del and Aunt Sondie. A horn of a sort that has many pieces allowing you to change the shape of it many different ways. He loves it and after putting it all together says I want to play it for my fish! He goes over to the aquarium and begins to play (loudly - thanks a lot!) and then says "they like it they are dancing". Then he wants to play it for the outside fish (Koi pond).

# 4 - Dancing with the Stars is on and then goes to commercial. Akins loves any show with music and dancing - or any show with scantily clad pretty girls. He waits somewhat patiently for the show to return and then finally says "I want to see the girl". So, I'm curious and I said "do you want to see the boy too". He very loudly states "NO!" He is definitely all male and sure does like the girls!

AFAA Video CD

Please view Sue and Scott's blog. Sue has put together photos for a project the MUAA mom's have been working on. This will be a photo CD for the kids remaining at the AFAA house. It has personal messages to the kids as well as photos of what they can expect as chronicled through Akins, Abegail and Eman's lives since coming to America. It is truly wonderful and deserves the spotlight tonight.
