Three...

Three days and counting down! Mom came over with her stuff and we mixed it into all of the bags we are taking just in case any luggage gets lost. We have had that happen before and it was not good! We are carrying in two HUGE duffle bags of supplies the agency sent to us that go to the orphanage. Lots of you have asked what do the supplies include and it really is a hodge podge of stuff. I thought I'd share a couple of photos to give you the idea. Now that we are actually packing we are getting REALLY excited!

Four ...

The clock is counting down now. Only four days to flight day. Heather called today from Africa and told me all is well over there and to not worry about any of the visa stuff. It is reassuring to talk to someone on the ground in Liberia that REALLY knows what is going on. She also said she has great pictures of Junior and Matthew playing kick the can. Can't wait to see those!

Latest Update - The information is slowly trickling in.

This is the message I got from the director of the adoption agency today. "The Embassy has indicated they are looking in to fraud which will mean they will work very close and slow down so I just do not think August 7th is going to happen for you but our travel agent, Joann, is very good at being able to hold reservations until the very last minute. Hang in there this will happen I just can not say when".

Somewhat disappointing but I am still holding onto the 7th. In the meantime they are taking Heather (still in country with no visa and no field investigation) to the Embassy tomorrow to see if they can have an exception made and get her home with her kids.

When Can I Unleash the Beast???

It looks like chances of travelling on the 7th are becoming slimmer and slimmer. I will have another $300 in re-booking in light of yesterdays changes at the Embassy. But, I am holding on to the slim chance that things will come through. Fingers crossed everyone.

MAJOR SETBACK!

The agency director advised today that the Embassy in Liberia has undergone staffing and procedural changes. These changes effect how visa interviews are conducted and visas are issued. Unfortunately, this means Mom and I will likely NOT be travelling in a week and at an unknown cost to re-book all three tickets. Needless to say I am beside myself right now. More as I learn how this will impact our current travel plans for 8/7.
